Terms and Conditions
The Test Advantage ("we", "us", "our") is an online Digital SAT, ACT and EST preparation platform available at thetestadvantage.com (the "Service").
The Service is owned and operated by Oasis Edu Ltd., a company registered in England and Wales, with its registered office at 7 Coronation Road, Dephna House, Launchese #105, London, United Kingdom, NW10 7PQ.
You can reach us at:
- General and support: [email protected]
- Billing, refunds and cancellations: [email protected]
- Post: Oasis Edu Ltd., 7 Coronation Road, Dephna House, Launchese #105, London, United Kingdom, NW10 7PQ
We aim to respond to all billing and refund enquiries within 5 working days.
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Oasis Edu Ltd. They govern your access to and use of the Service, including our question banks, practice and mock tests, skill drills, lesson notes, videos, games, AI tutoring features, tutor and classroom tools, and any free or paid subscription.
By creating an account, logging in, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you accept these Terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data and forms part of this agreement.
In these Terms, "you" and "your" mean the person using the Service. Where the account belongs to a student under 18, "you" also includes the parent or guardian who consented to the account and who is responsible for payment.
The Service is designed for students preparing for standardised admissions tests, and we know that many of our users are under 18.
If you are under 18, you may only use the Service with the knowledge and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, you confirm that you have that consent.
If you are under 13, you may not create an account or use the Service.
If you are a parent or guardian and you create an account, pay for a subscription, or allow a child to use the Service, you agree to these Terms on your own behalf and on behalf of that child, and you are responsible for all activity on the account and all charges incurred.
You must give accurate registration information. If we learn that an account has been created by a child under 13, or by a child under 18 without parental consent, we may suspend or delete that account and refund any unused subscription period.
To use most of the Service you need an account. You can register directly or sign in using a third-party provider such as Google.
You agree to:
- provide accurate and complete information, and keep it up to date;
- keep your login details confidential and not share them with anyone;
- use the account personally — one account is for one student;
- tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Sharing, reselling or giving others access to your account or subscription is a serious breach of these Terms and may result in immediate termination without refund.
We may monitor for account sharing, including by looking at concurrent sessions, device patterns and IP addresses.
Some parts of the Service require a paid subscription. The plans, prices, billing frequency and any free trial period are shown on our pricing page before you buy.
5.1 Free trials. Where we offer a free trial, we will tell you how long it lasts. Unless we say otherwise, a free trial converts automatically into a paid subscription when it ends, and we will charge the payment method you provided. To avoid being charged you must cancel before the trial ends. Free trials are limited to one per person, and we may refuse or cancel a trial where we reasonably believe it is being claimed more than once, including across multiple accounts, email addresses or payment methods.
5.2 Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, and continue to do so until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorise us and our payment processor to charge your payment method on each renewal date without further notice to you. You are solely responsible for cancelling before a renewal date if you do not wish to be charged.
5.3 Notifications are a courtesy. We send a confirmation email for each payment taken, and we may send renewal reminders. These are provided as a courtesy only. They are not a condition of the charge, and non-delivery, non-receipt or non-reading of any such email — for any reason, including spam filtering or an out-of-date email address on your account — does not affect the validity of the charge or entitle you to a refund. Keeping a working email address on your account is your responsibility.
5.4 Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may retry it. If we cannot collect payment, we may suspend your access until payment is made, and we may cancel the subscription. You remain liable for amounts properly due.
5.5 Taxes. Prices are shown inclusive or exclusive of tax as indicated at checkout. You are responsible for any taxes that apply in your country and that are not collected by us.
You can cancel your subscription at any time, for any reason. There is no minimum term and no cancellation fee. Cancelling is free and takes only a few moments.
To cancel, either:
- use the cancellation option in your account settings; or
- email [email protected] from the address on your account, asking us to cancel.
Cancellation stops future renewals. It takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and you keep full access until then. Cancelling does not refund the current period or any earlier period — see the Refund Policy below.
Cancel in good time. A cancellation is only effective once it has actually reached us. If you cancel very close to a renewal date and the payment has already been initiated, that payment will stand. It is your responsibility to confirm that your cancellation has been processed — we send an email confirmation, and you can check your account settings at any time.
Please read this section carefully before you subscribe. It replaces all previous refund terms.
7.1 Your statutory 14-day right, and how it applies here. If you are a consumer, you have a legal right to cancel a distance contract within 14 days. Because the Service is digital content and access is granted immediately, when you subscribe you expressly request that we begin supplying it straight away, and you acknowledge that you will lose your right to cancel once supply has begun. Where the law nonetheless requires us to refund, we will deduct a proportionate amount for the access you have already received, and any amount attributable to content you have viewed, downloaded or completed.
7.2 A subscription buys access, not usage. Your subscription fee pays for access to the Service for the billing period. It does not depend on how much of that access you choose to use. Not using the Service, using it less than you expected, or forgetting that you subscribed are not grounds for a refund. The Service, the question banks and the AI tutor remain available to you throughout the period you paid for, and our costs are incurred whether or not you log in.
7.3 Renewal payments are non-refundable. Subscriptions renew automatically and this is disclosed before you buy, at checkout, and in every payment confirmation email. You are solely responsible for cancelling before a renewal date if you do not want to be charged. Cancelling is free, takes seconds, and can be done at any time. Any reminder email we send is a courtesy, not a condition of the charge, and a failure to receive or read one does not entitle you to a refund.
7.4 Your rights if the Service is faulty. Nothing in this section affects your legal rights. If the Service is faulty, not as described, or unavailable for a significant period, you are entitled to a repair, a replacement or an appropriate refund under consumer law. Short interruptions, scheduled maintenance and individual content errors that we correct do not constitute a fault of this kind.
7.5 When we will not refund. We do not refund:
- any period during which the Service was available to you, regardless of whether you used it;
- renewal payments, including where an account has been inactive;
- partial or unused portions of a billing period after cancellation — you keep access until the period ends;
- accounts terminated by us for breach of these Terms, including account sharing and copying our content;
- payments made more than 6 months before your request.
7.6 Discretionary refunds. We may, entirely at our own discretion, offer a refund or account credit in individual circumstances. Doing so once does not create any entitlement, set any precedent, or oblige us to do so again for you or anyone else.
7.7 How to request a refund. Email [email protected] from the address on your account, stating which payment you are asking about and why. We will respond within 5 working days. Where a refund is due, we pay it within 14 days to the original payment method.
7.8 Chargebacks. If you believe a charge is wrong, you must contact us first. Raising a chargeback without giving us a reasonable opportunity to resolve the matter is a breach of these Terms, and may result in immediate termination of your account without refund and permanent refusal of future service. Where a chargeback is raised against a charge that was properly made, we reserve the right to recover the amount together with any fees charged to us, and to instruct a debt recovery agency.
We may change our prices from time to time.
If we increase the price of a subscription you already hold, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before the change takes effect. The new price will apply from your next renewal after that notice period.
If you do not want to pay the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect and you will not be charged the higher amount. Continuing your subscription after the notice period means you accept the new price.
Price changes never apply retroactively to periods you have already paid for.
As long as you comply with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service and its content for your own study — or, if you are a registered tutor or centre on a tutor or centre plan, for teaching your own enrolled students within the limits of that plan.
This licence is for personal, non-commercial educational use only. It does not transfer any ownership to you, and it ends when your subscription or account ends.
All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
You must not:
- copy, reproduce, download, screenshot, record, republish, sell, rent, sub-license or distribute any part of the Service or its content, except as these Terms allow;
- share your account, or allow anyone else to use your subscription;
- use the Service to build, train or supply a competing product, question bank or dataset;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, to other users' accounts, or to our systems;
- interfere with, disrupt, overload or attempt to reverse-engineer the Service;
- upload anything unlawful, defamatory, obscene or harassing, or that infringes anyone's rights;
- upload viruses or other malicious code;
- use the Service in breach of any law, or to cheat in any examination.
Breaching this section may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund, and we may report serious breaches to the relevant authorities.
All content on the Service — including practice questions, passages, answer explanations, skill drills, lesson notes, videos, games, figures, blog articles, AI tutor outputs, and the design, structure and code of the platform — is owned by Oasis Edu Ltd. or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
Our original reading, writing and mathematics materials are authored in-house and represent substantial investment. Copying, sharing, redistributing or reproducing this material — in whole or in part, in any medium — is prohibited, and we will enforce our rights.
"The Test Advantage" and our logo are our trade marks. You may not use them without our written permission.
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, contact us at [email protected] with details and we will investigate promptly.
You may not use any robot, spider, scraper, crawler, script, browser extension or other automated means to access, read, copy or collect any part of the Service or its content, whether or not you have an account.
You may not use any content from the Service to train, fine-tune, evaluate or ground any machine learning or artificial intelligence model, or to build any dataset, index or derived work, without our prior written permission.
You may not frame our pages, or present them in any way that alters their appearance or suggests an association, approval or endorsement that does not exist.
We may apply technical measures to detect and block automated access, and may suspend accounts used for it.
SAT® and PSAT/NMSQT® are trademarks registered by the College Board. ACT® is a registered trademark of ACT, Inc. EST is administered by its respective owner.
None of these organisations sponsors, endorses, approves of, or is affiliated with The Test Advantage or Oasis Edu Ltd. We are an independent preparation provider. References to these tests are for identification and descriptive purposes only.
Our practice materials are our own work, created to reflect the published format, skills and difficulty of these examinations. They are not official past papers and are not supplied by the test owners.
The Service includes artificial intelligence features — including our AI tutor, AI-generated explanations, hints, study plans, score predictions and learner profiles.
You should understand that:
- AI output can be wrong. It may contain factual errors, incorrect mathematics or flawed reasoning, and it may occasionally recommend content that is not appropriate for you.
- AI output is study guidance, not authoritative instruction. It does not replace a qualified teacher or tutor, and it is not academic, career, admissions, medical or legal advice.
- Score predictions and readiness estimates are statistical estimates only, and are not a forecast or promise of your actual result.
- You should verify anything important, and tell us at [email protected] if you spot an error so that we can correct it.
Your conversations with AI features may be stored and reviewed to improve the quality and safety of the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
We work hard to build effective preparation materials, but examination results depend on many factors outside our control — including how much you study, your starting level, and your performance on the day.
We do not guarantee any particular score, score improvement, admission outcome or examination result. No statement on our website, in our marketing, in our blog, or from our AI features should be read as such a guarantee.
Any score data, averages or improvement figures we publish describe the past results of other users, and are not a promise of your own.
Parts of the Service let you submit content — for example notes, flashcards, answers, messages to tutors or to the AI tutor, problem reports and comments.
You keep ownership of what you submit. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, reproduce and adapt it solely to operate, support and improve the Service for you.
You confirm that anything you submit is yours to submit, is accurate as far as you know, and does not infringe anyone else's rights or break the law.
We do not routinely pre-screen submitted content, but we may remove anything that breaches these Terms. Content submitted by users reflects their views, not ours.
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, measure how the Service is used, and improve it.
By using the Service you agree to our use of cookies as set out in our Privacy Policy, which explains what we set, why we set it, and how you can control them. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies, but some parts of the Service will not work properly without them.
We take your privacy seriously, particularly because many of our users are minors.
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and the rights you have — including your rights under the UK GDPR and, where applicable, the EU GDPR and the CCPA. Please read it: it forms part of these Terms.
To exercise any of your data rights, or to ask us to delete your account and the data associated with it, email [email protected].
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details; they are handled directly by Stripe under its own terms and privacy policy. You should read those before paying.
The Service also relies on other third-party providers, such as Google (for optional sign-in) and analytics and email providers. Where you choose to connect a third-party account, that provider's terms apply to your use of their service.
We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, availability or content of third-party services, but we will help where we reasonably can if something goes wrong with a payment.
We aim to keep the Service available and working, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access. The Service may be unavailable during maintenance, during updates, or because of events outside our control. Interruptions of this kind are a normal part of any online service and do not entitle you to a refund.
We continually develop the Service and may add, change or remove features at any time. Our content library, question banks and feature set are not fixed, and no particular test, drill, feature or piece of content is guaranteed to remain available for any period.
If we discontinue the Service as a whole, we will give you as much notice as we reasonably can and refund any period you have paid for but not yet received.
By you. You can stop using the Service and close your account at any time — see "How to Cancel" above.
By us. We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms — in particular by sharing your account, or by copying or redistributing our content;
- we are required to do so by law;
- payment for your subscription cannot be collected.
Except where your breach is serious, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right. If we terminate your account for a serious breach, you will not be entitled to a refund. If we terminate for any other reason, we will refund the unused portion of your subscription.
On termination, your licence to use the Service ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law — will continue to apply.
The Service is provided for educational purposes. To the fullest extent permitted by law, and subject to the paragraph below, we exclude all representations, warranties and conditions that are not expressly set out in these Terms — including any implied warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its content is complete, accurate and up to date at all times.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including, if you are a consumer, your statutory rights to services supplied with reasonable care and skill and as described.
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights that these Terms do not affect. Advice about those rights is available from your local consumer advice body — in the UK, Citizens Advice.
Subject always to the exclusions set out in "Disclaimers" above:
If you are a consumer: we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these Terms or of our failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable, or for any loss arising because you used the Service for a commercial purpose.
If you are a business (including a tutor, school or centre using a tutor or centre plan): we are not liable to you for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, loss of anticipated savings, or any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you in connection with the Service is limited to the total amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for examination results, admissions decisions or academic outcomes. See "No Score or Results Guarantee" above.
If you use the Service in breach of these Terms, you agree to compensate us for any losses, costs, damages and reasonable legal fees we incur as a result of a third-party claim arising from that breach — for example, a claim that content you uploaded infringed someone's rights, or a claim arising from your redistribution of our materials.
This does not apply to consumers acting outside the course of a business, except where the claim arises from your deliberate or reckless breach of these Terms.
We will tell you promptly about any such claim and give you a reasonable opportunity to deal with it.
You may link to our home page, or to a public page such as a blog article, provided you do so fairly and legally and in a way that does not damage our reputation or suggest an association, approval or endorsement that does not exist.
You must not link in a way that is deceptive, and you must not frame our content within another site. You may not use our logo or artwork to link to us without a written trade mark licence.
We may ask you to remove a link to our site at any time, and you agree to do so promptly.
We may update these Terms — for example, to reflect changes to the Service or to legal and regulatory requirements.
If we make a change that materially affects your rights — such as a change to the Refund Policy, to cancellation rights, or to liability — we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email, or by prominent notice on the Service, before it takes effect. Other changes take effect when we post them.
If you do not accept a material change, you may cancel before it takes effect and we will refund any unused period you have paid for. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
The version published on this page is always the current one, and we show the date it was last changed.
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of the Service, are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
You and we agree that the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. However, if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom or in the European Union, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protection rules of your own country, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
Please contact us first. If you have a complaint, email [email protected]. We will acknowledge it within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. Most issues — especially billing ones — are resolved quickly and informally.
Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service, and they replace any earlier terms, including any previous refund or cancellation policy.
Severability. If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, that does not mean we give it up.
Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation, for example if our business is sold. We will tell you if this happens, and it will not reduce your rights. You may not transfer your account or your rights under these Terms to anyone else.
Events outside our control. We are not liable for any failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
Language. These Terms are provided in English. Where we provide a translation, the English version prevails.

Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use The Test Advantage at thetestadvantage.com (the "Service"), why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what rights you have.
The data controller is Oasis Edu Ltd., a company registered in England and Wales, with its registered office at 7 Coronation Road, Dephna House, Launchese #105, London, United Kingdom, NW10 7PQ.
You can contact us about anything in this policy at [email protected].
This policy covers the website, the student and tutor dashboards, our test and skill-drill platform, our AI tutoring features, and the emails we send you. It applies to students, parents, tutors and centre administrators.
Because most of our users are school-age students, please also read section 5 on children and parental consent.
Under the UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your personal data. Ours are:
- Contract — to create and run your account, deliver the tests, drills and lessons you have signed up for, take payment, and provide support.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and account sharing, understand how the Service is used so we can improve it, and send service-related messages. We balance these against your rights, and you can object at any time.
- Consent — for optional marketing emails, for non-essential cookies, and where a parent consents to a child under 18 using the Service. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — to keep accounting and tax records, and to respond to lawful requests.
Where we rely on consent, withdrawing it does not affect processing we carried out before you withdrew it.
Account information — your name, email address, password (stored hashed, never in readable form), and optionally your phone number, WhatsApp number, country, city, age, gender and profile image. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
Study and performance data — the tests, drills and lessons you take; your answers; whether each answer was correct; time spent per question; scores; attempt history; mistakes; flashcards and notes you create; skill and topic strengths and weaknesses; ability estimates; XP, streaks, badges and points.
AI interaction data — the messages you exchange with our AI tutor, and the learner profile and recommendations generated from your performance. See section 6.
Billing information — your subscription plan, billing dates, payment status, invoices, and the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers. We never see or store your full card number. See section 12.
Technical data — IP address, device type, browser, operating system, timestamps, pages visited, and the page you were last on. See section 8.
Communications — messages you send us, problem reports you submit, and records of which emails we sent you and whether you opened or clicked them.
Tutor and classroom data — if you are linked to a tutor, parent, classroom or centre, records of that relationship, homework assigned to you, and session and attendance records. See section 7.
We use your information to:
- create and administer your account, and authenticate you when you log in;
- deliver the tests, drills, lessons, games and AI features you use;
- score your work, track your progress, and generate the analytics, weak-area reports and study recommendations that are the core of the Service;
- personalise what we show you, including which questions and drills we recommend next;
- take payment, manage your subscription, and issue refunds;
- provide customer support and respond to your messages;
- send service messages such as payment confirmations, renewal reminders and important changes to the Service;
- send marketing and re-engagement emails where you have not opted out — see section 13;
- keep the Service secure, detect and prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms including our rules on account sharing;
- understand how the Service is used in aggregate so we can improve it;
- comply with our legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal data.
Most of our users are school-age students, and we treat children's data with particular care.
Under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, and they may not use the Service. If we learn that we hold data about a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has given us their information, contact us immediately at [email protected].
Aged 13 to 17. Students in this age range may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Where a parent or guardian creates or pays for the account, we treat that as consent.
Parents and guardians may at any time ask us to show them what data we hold about their child, correct it, or delete it and close the account. Email us from the address associated with the account.
What we do not do with children's data. We do not sell it, we do not use it for behavioural advertising, and we do not share it with advertisers.
What a student's data is used for is set out in section 4 — principally to score their work and to generate the progress and weak-area analysis that the Service exists to provide.
The Service includes AI features: an AI tutor you can chat with, AI-generated explanations and hints, study plans, score predictions and an AI learner profile.
What we process. To generate these, we process your study and performance data — the questions you answered, whether you got them right, your weak topics, your scores — together with the messages you send the AI tutor.
Where it goes. To generate a response, relevant context may be sent to a third-party AI model provider. We send only what is needed to produce the response. We ask our AI providers not to use your data to train their models.
What we keep. We store your AI conversations and generated profiles so that the tutor has continuity between sessions, and so we can review quality and safety, investigate errors, and improve prompts.
Please do not share sensitive personal information with the AI tutor — such as health information, financial details or identification numbers. It is a study tool and does not need them.
AI output can be wrong. Score predictions and readiness estimates are statistical estimates, not decisions about you. See section 20.
The Service supports tutors, parents, classrooms and test-preparation centres. If your account is linked to one of these, some of your data becomes visible to them.
If you are linked to a tutor, that tutor can see your test and drill results, your progress and weak areas, homework you have been assigned and whether you completed it, and, where the feature is enabled, live monitoring of a test session in progress.
If you are linked to a parent or guardian, they can see your progress and homework status.
If you are enrolled in a classroom or centre, the classroom teacher and centre administrators can see your results and participation within that classroom.
What they cannot see: your password, your payment details, or your private account settings.
These links are created when you or your parent joins a tutor, classroom or centre, or accepts an invitation. If you want a link removed, ask the tutor or centre, or contact us.
Like all websites, we and our hosting provider keep server logs. These record your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, internet service provider, date and time stamps, the pages you requested, referring and exit pages, and error events.
We use this to keep the Service running and secure, diagnose faults, analyse traffic patterns, and detect abuse such as account sharing and automated scraping.
Some of this data can identify you, either on its own or when combined with your account, so we treat it as personal data. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and reliable service.
We use cookies and similar technologies for four purposes:
- Strictly necessary — to log you in, keep you logged in, secure your session, and remember your place in a test. The Service cannot work without these, so they do not require consent.
- Preferences — to remember settings such as dark mode and your chosen options.
- Analytics — to understand which pages and features are used, and where people get stuck. See section 10.
- Session replay — some analytics tools record anonymised interaction with pages so we can find usability problems.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can refuse or delete them. If you block strictly necessary cookies, you will not be able to log in or take a test.
We use third-party analytics tools to understand how the Service is used, so that we can improve it. These may include page-level analytics and session-replay tools.
These tools collect technical and usage data such as pages viewed, clicks, scroll depth, device and browser, approximate location derived from IP address, and how long you spend on a page.
We use this data in aggregate to make product decisions. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not use it to make decisions about individual students' academic outcomes.
Our lawful basis is your consent where required, and otherwise our legitimate interest in improving the Service.
We share personal data only with providers who help us run the Service, and only as far as they need it. Each is bound by contract to protect it and to use it solely on our instructions.
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
- Google — optional sign-in, and email delivery where we send through a Google account.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — to store the database and serve the site.
- Analytics providers — see section 10.
- Email delivery providers — to send service and marketing email, including open and click tracking.
- AI model providers — to power our AI tutor and generated explanations. See section 6.
We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, or to protect the safety of a user or the public.
If our business is sold or reorganised, data may transfer to the new owner, who will remain bound by this policy or an equivalent one.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Payments are processed by Stripe, which is certified to PCI-DSS Level 1.
We never receive or store your full card number, expiry date or security code. Those go directly to Stripe.
What we do store is the record of the transaction: the amount, the currency, the date, whether it succeeded, the last four digits and card brand, your subscription and plan, and the Stripe customer, subscription, invoice and charge identifiers we need to manage your subscription and issue refunds.
We keep billing records for as long as we are required to for accounting and tax purposes — normally six years — even if you close your account.
Stripe processes your payment data as its own controller for fraud prevention and regulatory purposes. See Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
We send two kinds of email.
Service emails — payment confirmations, renewal notices, password resets, security alerts and important changes to the Service. These are part of providing the Service and you cannot opt out of them while you have an active account.
Marketing and study-reminder emails — tips, new features, offers, and re-engagement messages when you have not studied for a while. You can opt out at any time, using the unsubscribe link in any such email or by emailing us. We will action it promptly and it will not affect your access to the Service.
Tracking. Our emails contain a small invisible image and tracked links, which tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. We use this to judge whether our emails are useful and to stop sending to people who are not reading them. If you do not want this, opt out of marketing email or block images in your email client.
The Service links to third-party websites and embeds third-party content such as videos. This policy does not cover those sites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices.
If you follow a link away from the Service, or if you connect a third-party account such as Google, we encourage you to read that provider's own privacy policy before you share anything with them.
We keep personal data only as long as we need it.
- Account and study data — for as long as your account is open. Your test history is the core of the Service, so we keep it so you can see your long-term progress.
- After you close your account — we delete or anonymise your personal data within 12 months, except where we must keep it for the reasons below.
- Billing and accounting records — 6 years, as required by UK tax law.
- Server and security logs — normally 12 months.
- Email delivery and tracking records — normally 24 months.
- AI conversation logs — normally 24 months, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Unsubscribe records — kept indefinitely, because we need them to keep honouring your opt-out.
We may keep anonymised, aggregated statistics indefinitely. These cannot identify you.
You can ask us to delete your data sooner — see section 21.
We are based in the United Kingdom, and members of our team work from other countries, including South Africa and Egypt. Some of our service providers are based in the United States or elsewhere.
This means your personal data may be transferred to, stored in, or accessed from countries outside the UK and the European Economic Area, which may not give the same level of legal protection.
Where we transfer personal data out of the UK or the EEA, we rely on one of the following safeguards:
- an adequacy decision by the UK government or the European Commission covering that country; or
- the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum, together with a transfer risk assessment.
You can ask us for details of the safeguards that apply to a particular transfer by emailing us.
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:
- encryption in transit using HTTPS across the Service;
- passwords stored using a one-way hash — we cannot read them, and neither can anyone who obtains the database;
- optional two-factor authentication;
- access controls, so staff and tutors see only the data they need for their role;
- audit logging of administrative actions;
- regular backups.
No online service can be completely secure. If we become aware of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the Information Commissioner's Office within 72 hours and will tell you without undue delay where the risk to you is high.
Please help us by using a strong, unique password and not sharing your account.
If you are in the UK or the EU, you have the following rights over your personal data:
- Access — to be told whether we hold data about you, and to receive a copy. The first copy is free.
- Rectification — to have inaccurate data corrected, and incomplete data completed.
- Erasure — to have your data deleted, where we have no overriding reason to keep it.
- Restriction — to have us pause processing while a dispute is resolved.
- Objection — to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to object to direct marketing at any time, with no exceptions.
- Portability — to receive the data you gave us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and to have it sent to another provider where technically feasible.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, where we rely on consent.
- Not to be subject to solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. See section 20.
We respond within one month. We may extend this by two further months for complex requests, and we will tell you if we do. Exercising these rights is free.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purpose, and the categories of third parties we disclose it to;
- request deletion of personal information we have collected from you;
- request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information;
- limit the use of sensitive personal information;
- not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA and CPRA, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months. We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
To make a request, email [email protected]. We will verify your identity against your account and respond within 45 days, extendable once where necessary.
The Service profiles your performance. We analyse your answers to estimate your ability by topic, identify weak areas, predict a likely score range, and decide which questions, drills and lessons to recommend next. This is the core educational function of the Service.
This profiling does not produce legal effects or similarly significant effects on you. It does not determine your examination result, and it is not shared with universities, examination boards or admissions offices. It is guidance to help you study.
Predictions and estimates can be wrong. They are based on your practice performance and reflect statistical patterns, not certainties.
You can ask us to explain how a recommendation or estimate was reached, and you are free to disregard it and study whatever you choose. If you object to profiling entirely, contact us — though we should be clear that most of the Service will not function meaningfully without it.
To exercise any right in this policy, email [email protected] from the address on your account, telling us what you want. If you are a parent acting for a child, tell us the child's account email.
We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act, so that we do not disclose data to the wrong person. We will respond within one month, and exercising your rights is free.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first — we would rather fix it. If you are still unsatisfied, you can complain to a supervisory authority:
- United Kingdom: the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk, helpline 0303 123 1113.
- European Union: the data protection authority in your country of residence.
- California: the California Privacy Protection Agency, or the California Attorney General.
You have the right to complain to your regulator without contacting us first.
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Service or to the law. If we make a significant change — for example, to what we collect, who we share it with, or how long we keep it — we will tell you by email or by prominent notice on the Service before it takes effect.
The version on this page is always the current one.
