An SAT math practice test is a practice run of the Digital SAT Math section: 44 questions in 70 minutes, split into two 35-minute modules that adapt to you. Start with a free full-length Bluebook practice test from College Board. Then use math question banks, such as our SAT question bank, to drill the topics that cost you points.
Below you will find what the Math section covers, where to get math practice tests, and a review routine that turns one test into a week of focused practice.
What is on an SAT math practice test
College Board splits SAT Math into four content areas. Most questions are multiple choice. Some ask you to type in your own answer, which College Board calls student-produced responses.
| Math area (College Board) | Skills College Board lists | Share of scored questions |
|---|---|---|
| Algebra | Linear equations in one and two variables, linear functions, systems of two linear equations, linear inequalities | About 35 percent (13 to 15 questions) |
| Advanced Math | Equivalent expressions, nonlinear equations and systems, nonlinear functions such as quadratics and exponentials | About 35 percent (13 to 15 questions) |
| Problem-Solving and Data Analysis | Ratios, rates and units, percentages, data and scatterplots, probability, sample statistics and margin of error | About 15 percent (5 to 7 questions) |
| Geometry and Trigonometry | Area and volume, lines, angles and triangles, right triangles and trigonometry, circles | About 15 percent (5 to 7 questions) |
Algebra and Advanced Math make up about 70 percent of the section, so those two areas deserve most of your practice time. For worked examples in each area, see SAT math practice questions by topic, and keep our SAT math formulas guide open for geometry.
How the Math section adapts
See which math topics cost you points. Create a free account and take one free full-length adaptive test. You can choose Math.
Start 1-day free trial →Your first module mixes easy, medium and hard questions. How you do there decides whether your second module is harder or easier. College Board scores both modules together. It also uses the difficulty of the questions you got right, so two students with the same number correct can earn different scores.
Each module holds 20 to 25 scored questions plus two pretest questions that do not count. You will not know which ones are pretest. A math practice test that never adapts gives you practice, but it cannot show you the harder Module 2. Our Practice Test 3 math walkthrough walks through one full math test.
Where to get SAT math practice tests
- Bluebook (free). College Board's full-length adaptive practice tests include the full Math section. After the test you can see your score, the correct answers and rationales.
- Khan Academy (free). The Official SAT Prep math course has a Course Challenge, quizzes and unit tests at three levels. You take full-length tests in Bluebook, then use Khan's walk-throughs.
- Student Question Bank (free). Pick Math, then filter by domain, skill and difficulty to build short practice sets.
- The Test Advantage. Math question banks sorted by test date, from March 2024 through October 2026, plus adaptive tests with Module 1 and Module 2. A free account includes one full-length adaptive test, and you can choose Math.
For every full-length option in one place, see our Digital SAT practice tests guide.

How to take a math practice test
- Set a timer for 35 minutes per module and take both modules in one sitting.
- Use the calculator you will use on test day. Bluebook has a built-in Desmos calculator for the whole Math section, so practice with it now. Our Desmos for the SAT page covers how to use it.
- Answer every question. College Board says guessing usually beats leaving a blank, especially after you rule out one or two choices.
- Circle any question you guessed on, even if you got it right.
Review it the same day
Put every miss and every guess into one of the four math areas above. Then write one line for each: what the question asked, and the step where you went wrong. A sign error and a misread graph need different fixes.
Next, pick the area with the most misses and do 15 to 20 questions from it each day for a week. Take a second math practice test at the end of the week and compare. If you have a target score, our Digital SAT math study plan sets the pace week by week.
Practice on TTA: free and Premium
A free account gives you one full-length adaptive test (English or Math), 30 practice questions a day, 10 Mr. O messages a day and a score report after the test. Every Math bank question carries a difficulty band from 1 (foundational) to 7 (hardest). Targeted sets move you up a band when you get one right and step you down after two misses in a row.
Premium costs 39.99 dollars a month or 250 dollars a year on our pricing page. It opens 45 Digital SAT question banks from 2023 to 2026, including the October 2026 Math question bank, plus Guide Me hints, video explanations and Mr. O on every question. The only free TTA bank is the June 2026 English question bank, so for free math practice use your daily questions and your adaptive test. Create a free account to start.
How we built this page
Updated October 23, 2026. Section length, timing, the four math areas, student-produced responses, module rules, scoring and the guessing advice come from College Board pages read that day: the SAT structure page, the Math page, How Scores Are Calculated, the Bluebook practice tests page, How to Use Khan Academy, and the Assessment Framework for the Digital SAT Suite (Table 16 and the calculator note). The list of TTA Math banks comes from our tests database, and plan prices and features come from our live pricing page, both checked the same day.
