We built this prediction from our own data. It is not a leak, and it carries no guarantee. Few Math questions come back word for word: only 53 Math questions in our banks repeated across two or more test dates. So you get the skill families and the rules behind them. You can browse every monthly bank in our SAT question bank hub. For the English side and the full repeat analysis, read our November 2026 SAT prediction.

What does our November 2026 SAT Math prediction say?

Expect the same skill mix that leads our other banks. The top two skill families in our November and December banks match the top two overall. We found no sign that November or December brings its own set of Math questions.

College Board publishes the format. The Math section has 44 questions in two 35-minute modules. Each module has 20 scored questions and 2 unscored pretest questions, per the College Board Math specifications. Algebra and Advanced Math each have 13 to 15 questions. Problem-Solving and Data Analysis and Geometry and Trigonometry each have 5 to 7, per the Math section overview. College Board sets about 30% of the questions in a real-world context.

Learn the rule, then practice it. Free lesson notes and Targeted Practice cover lines, systems, quadratics, area and volume and more.

Our own banks add more detail:

  • Same leaders in November and December. Our four November and December banks (2024 and 2025) hold 957 questions. Linear functions lead there at 13.8%, and exponential functions come second at 8.4%. Nine of the ten biggest skill families overall are also in the November and December top ten.
  • No month pattern. We found 55 exact repeats across 11 earlier test dates. Neither November bank repeated a single question from an earlier bank. 27 of the 55 repeats came into one test date, June 2026.
  • Most repeats change the numbers. A question with new numbers is a new question, so you cannot memorize your way through Math. You can learn the rule each skill family uses.

Which SAT Math skills appear most in our question banks?

Ten skill families make up 65.8% of the 3,989 Math questions in our banks. The table ranks them. "Marked Hard" is the share of that skill's questions tagged Hard in our banks.

What formulas and rules do the top SAT Math skills use?

Each skill family runs on a short list of rules. Bluebook gives you a reference sheet of geometry formulas on every test with math questions, per Bluebook's testing tools page. Everything else on this list you need to know cold. Our SAT math formulas guide has the full list.

1. Linear functions, lines and models (14.0%)

  • Slope: m = (y2 − y1) / (x2 − x1).
  • Slope-intercept form: y = mx + b. In a word problem, b is the starting value and m is the change per unit.
  • Standard form Ax + By = C has slope −A/B.
  • Parallel lines have equal slopes. Perpendicular slopes multiply to −1.

Practice: Study the free Lines and Linear Relationships lesson notes and the Interpreting Linear Models lesson notes.

2. Exponential growth and functions (7.7%)

  • General form: y = a · bx. Here a is the starting value and b is the growth factor.
  • Percent growth: y = a(1 + r)t. Percent decay: y = a(1 − r)t.
  • A linear model adds the same amount each step. An exponential model multiplies by the same factor each step.

Practice: Study the free Growth Factors and Linear vs Exponential Models lesson notes.

3. Linear equations and solving (7.0%)

  • Do the same operation to both sides. Distribute first, then combine like terms.
  • For ax + b = cx + d: one solution when a ≠ c. No solution when a = c and b ≠ d. Infinitely many when a = c and b = d.

Practice: Study the free Solving Linear Equations lesson notes.

4. Quadratic and nonlinear functions (6.6%)

  • Standard form y = ax2 + bx + c: the y-intercept is c. The parabola opens up when a > 0 and down when a < 0.
  • Vertex form y = a(x − h)2 + k: the vertex is (h, k).
  • Factored form y = a(x − p)(x − q): the x-intercepts are p and q.
  • Axis of symmetry: x = −b / (2a). It sits halfway between the two x-intercepts.

Practice: Study the free Quadratic Functions lesson notes.

5. Expressions and polynomials (5.4%)

  • Exponent rules: am · an = am+n, (am)n = amn, and a−n = 1 / an.
  • Difference of squares: a2 − b2 = (a + b)(a − b).
  • Perfect square: (a + b)2 = a2 + 2ab + b2.
  • Two expressions are equivalent when the coefficients of matching terms are equal.

Practice: Study the free Algebraic Expressions lesson notes.

6. Quadratic equations (5.3%)

This family has the highest Hard rate in our top ten, at 65.7%.

  • Quadratic formula: x = (−b ± √(b2 − 4ac)) / (2a).
  • Discriminant b2 − 4ac: positive means two real solutions, zero means one, and negative means none.
  • Sum of the solutions is −b/a. Product of the solutions is c/a.

Practice: Study the free Quadratic Equations lesson notes and the Solution Counts and Matching Terms lesson notes.

7. Area, perimeter and volume (5.1%)

The reference sheet covers these. Appendix D of the College Board assessment framework reproduces it:

  • Circle: A = πr2 and C = 2πr. Rectangle: A = ℓw. Triangle: A = ½bh.
  • Rectangular prism: V = ℓwh. Cylinder: V = πr2h. Sphere: V = (4/3)πr3.
  • Cone: V = (1/3)πr2h. Rectangular pyramid: V = (1/3)ℓwh.
  • Not on the sheet: if every length is multiplied by k, area is multiplied by k2 and volume by k3.

Practice: Study the free Area, Perimeter and Volume lesson notes.

8. Inequalities (5.0%)

  • Flip the inequality sign when you multiply or divide both sides by a negative number.
  • "At least" means ≥. "At most" and "no more than" mean ≤.
  • To check a graph, test one point in the shaded region.

Practice: Study the free Linear Inequalities lesson notes.

9. Systems of equations (5.0%)

  • Solve by substitution or elimination. In Desmos, graph both lines and click the intersection.
  • Different slopes give one solution. Same slope with different intercepts gives no solution. The same line gives infinitely many.

Practice: Study the free Systems of Two Linear Equations lesson notes. For calculator methods, see Desmos on the SAT.

10. Functions (4.7%)

This is the friendliest family in the top ten: our banks tag only 11.2% of its questions Hard.

  • f(a) means replace every x with a.
  • f(x) + k shifts the graph up k. f(x − h) shifts it right h.

Practice: Study the free Functions lesson notes and the Function Transformations lesson notes.

Rules for the next skill families

  • Percentages (4.0%). Percent change = (new − original) / original × 100. A 20% increase multiplies by 1.2. To undo it, divide by 1.2. Practice: Study the free Percent Change lesson notes.
  • Triangles (4.1%). The reference sheet gives c2 = a2 + b2, the 30-60-90 sides x, x√3 and 2x, and the 45-45-90 sides s, s and s√2. The angles of a triangle add to 180 degrees.
  • Right-triangle trigonometry (2.7%). sin = opposite / hypotenuse, cos = adjacent / hypotenuse, tan = opposite / adjacent. Also, sin x° = cos(90 − x)°.
  • Circles (2.4%). A circle has 360 degrees of arc, or 2π radians, per the reference sheet. The circle equation is (x − h)2 + (y − k)2 = r2, with center (h, k).
  • Number of solutions and extraneous solutions (3.0%). Plug every answer back into the original equation. A root that fails is extraneous. Our banks tag 70.3% of these questions Hard.
