Quick Answer

Digital SAT prep works best in three steps: take one full-length adaptive practice test, drill the two or three skills that cost you the most points, then retest every one to two weeks. Bluebook tests and Khan Academy are free. TTA adds a daily plan and 45 question banks for 39.99 dollars a month or 250 dollars a year.

Digital SAT prep works best in three steps: take one full-length adaptive practice test, drill the two or three skills that cost you the most points, then retest every one to two weeks. You can do all of it online. College Board's Bluebook tests and Khan Academy are free, and a program like TTA adds a daily plan, 45 question banks sorted by test date and our SAT question bank, for 39.99 dollars a month or 250 dollars a year.

This guide covers what makes the Digital SAT different, what your prep has to include because of it, and how to compare prep options without overpaying.

What is different about the Digital SAT

You take the Digital SAT in the Bluebook app. It has two sections: Reading and Writing (54 questions in 64 minutes) and Math (44 questions in 70 minutes), for 2 hours and 14 minutes in total. Each section has two modules. Module 1 mixes easy, medium and hard questions, and your result decides whether Module 2 is harder or easier.

Scoring also changed. College Board uses Item Response Theory, so the difficulty of the questions you get right matters. Two students with the same number correct can earn different section scores. The scale is still 400 to 1600.

What Digital SAT prep has to include

Step one is one adaptive test. Create a free account and take one free full-length adaptive test (English or Math).

  1. Take an adaptive test. Module 2 adapts to your Module 1. You get a likely score range and a breakdown by skill.
  2. Open your dashboard. "Next up" shows the one thing to do now and why. Today's plan lists the rest.
  3. Practice what costs you points. Targeted sets come from your weakest topics and your missed questions. Every question carries a difficulty band from 1 (foundational) to 7 (hardest), and sets move you up a band as you improve.
  4. Retry and retest. Missed questions come back for a retry. A fresh adaptive test shows whether your range moved.

A free account covers one full-length adaptive test (English or Math), 30 practice questions a day, 10 Mr. O messages a day and a score report. The June 2026 English question bank is free for everyone. Premium opens the rest on our pricing page.

How long should Digital SAT prep take?

If you are starting from zero, begin with the free tools this week. Create a free account, take your adaptive test, and let the score report tell you where to spend your first hour.

How we built this page

Updated October 23, 2026. Test length, modules, scoring and the Reading and Writing question order come from College Board's SAT structure, Reading and Writing, and How Scores Are Calculated pages, and the Desmos note from its Assessment Framework for the Digital SAT Suite, all read that day. PrepScholar and Kaplan prices come from prepscholar.com/sat-test-prep and kaptest.com/sat on the same date. TTA facts come from our live pricing page.
