Does UConn require the SAT?

No. UConn says it is test-optional “for the foreseeable future,” and that no student is disadvantaged without a score. Some older UConn pages still mention fall 2026, but the main admissions page and the fall 2027 Stamps Scholarship page both list testing as optional.

  • Official scores only: if you want scores considered, they must come directly from College Board or ACT. Scores printed on a transcript do not count.
  • Superscoring: UConn combines your best section scores across dates.
  • Timing: take the SAT before December so scores arrive by the January 15 deadline.
  • Stamps Scholarship: scores are optional, but if you send one it should be at least 1420.
  • SAT code: 3915.

UConn’s own fall 2026 numbers: admitted students who sent scores had a middle 50% SAT of 1320 to 1460 at the Storrs main campus and 970 to 1250 at the regional campuses. College Scorecard’s range above combines an earlier year of enrolled students.

What SAT score should you aim for?

For Storrs, aim for 1320 or higher, the bottom of UConn’s fall 2026 admitted range. At 1460 or higher you are in the top quarter. For the regional campuses, the range is 970 to 1250.

If you are aiming for the Stamps Scholarship, UConn’s line is clear: send a score only if it is 1420 or higher. Remember that only official scores count, so order your score report early.
