How do you check SAT School Day scores?

If you took the SAT at school, your counselor gets your score report first and may give it to you early. You can still check online with your student account if you are 13 or older. If you gave a mobile number during testing at a U.S. school, the BigFuture School app texts you when scores are ready and shows the same information as the PDF.

What is on your SAT score report?

Your report shows three scores, plus details that tell you what each score means. College Board's What Do My Scores Mean page lists them:

Part of the reportWhat it tells you
Total score400 to 1600
Section scores200 to 800 each for Reading and Writing and for Math
Score rangeHow much your score would likely vary on a different test day under the same conditions
PercentilesHow your score compares with other students who took the same test
Benchmarks (in See Score Details)Whether each section meets College Board's college readiness mark: 480 for Reading and Writing, 530 for Math
Knowledge and SkillsYour performance in 8 content areas, 4 per section
Career Insights SnapshotU.S. students only: growing careers in your state linked to your scores

College Board's benchmarks page says students who meet a section benchmark have a 75% chance of earning at least a C in a matching first-semester college course. To see where your total or section score ranks, use our SAT percentile lookup. For how the score is built, read what the SAT is out of and how it is scored.

How do you read the Knowledge and Skills section?

Look for the shortest bars. Each of the 8 content areas shows how many questions it had and what share of the section it covers. A bar shows how you did. College Board gives an example: 12 to 14 questions make up about 26% of the Reading and Writing section.

  • Reading and Writing areas: Information and Ideas, Craft and Structure, Expression of Ideas, Standard English Conventions.
  • Math areas: Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, Geometry and Trigonometry.

Turn those bars into a plan. On the free SAT study plan generator, click the number of filled segments for each area, or drop in your score report. A PDF is read inside your browser and is not uploaded. The tool then builds a week-by-week plan to your next test date.

Then practice the weak area by itself. The October 2026 Reading and Writing bank sorts questions into those four official domains. The October 2026 Math bank does the same for math. The June 2026 Reading and Writing bank is free with a free account.

Why can't you see your SAT scores?

Work through these checks in order:

  1. Check the date. Make sure today is your test's release date, and give it until evening. Scores post in waves until about 8 p.m.
  2. Check the account. College Board says you, a parent or a counselor may have made a second account for you. Sign out and sign in to the other one.
  3. Use Find Your Scores. This College Board tool checks your account details. You can update your address or school, or find a score with your test details and SAT registration number.
  4. Call College Board. Customer Service is at 866-433-7728.

What should you do after you check your SAT scores?

Decide two things: where to send the score, and whether to retake.
