College Board gives no single release time. Weekend SAT scores post in waves on release day: some as early as 6 a.m., and all generally by 8 p.m. College Board names no time zone. SAT School Day scores are generally available starting around 6 p.m. on release day.

What time are SAT scores released?

For a weekend SAT, scores start to appear as early as 6 a.m. on release day, and College Board says all are "generally available by 8 p.m."

College Board gives the reason: "SAT Weekend score release is staggered to allow easy access due to the large number of students accessing their results." It spreads the release across the day so the site can handle the traffic.

So two students from the same test room can see scores hours apart. A score that shows up late in the day does not mean anything went wrong with your test.

Does College Board say which time zone?

No. The post says "6 a.m." and "8 p.m." and never names a time zone. Prep sites name one anyway, and they disagree:

SourceWhat it says about release timeOfficial?
College Board"Some scores are released as early as 6 a.m. and all scores are generally available by 8 p.m. on release day." No time zone.Yes
IvyStrides"The earliest time: 8:00 a.m. ET"No
UWorld College Prep"The first major batch of scores typically drops at approximately 8:00 AM Eastern Time (ET)."No
Scholarships360"SAT scores are typically released by 5 am EST (or 2 am PST)"No

That gives you 5 a.m., 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. depending on the site. Only College Board's wording is official. Our advice: check once in the morning, once at midday and once in the evening, then stop refreshing.

What time do SAT School Day scores come out?

SAT School Day is the SAT your school gives on a weekday. College Board says those scores are "generally available starting around 6 p.m. on the day of release," so expect them in the evening.

School Day scores follow their own calendar. The score release dates page ties them to when your school submits answers. In fall 2026, schools that submit by October 9 get scores to students on October 22. Your counselor may see your score first, and College Board's post says the counselor "may give it to you early."

When are the next SAT score release dates?

Each weekend test has a set release date. College Board's score release dates page lists these:

How will you know your SAT scores are ready?

You get an email. College Board's help center says students "will receive an email at the address associated with their College Board account when their scores are available."

You can also check without waiting for it. Sign in at studentscores.collegeboard.org, the site named on College Board's getting your weekend scores page. Your newest score sits at the top.

A phone call will not get you scores sooner. The test fees page charges $15 per call for scores by phone, "available at the same time as online scores."

What if your SAT scores are not showing yet?

Wait until evening first, since College Board says all weekend scores are generally out by 8 p.m. Still nothing? Try these steps from College Board's weekend scores page:

  1. Use the "Find Your Scores" tool to check your account and update your address or school.
  2. Look for a second account. You, a parent or a counselor may have made one. Sign out and sign in to the other account.
  3. Call Customer Service at 866-433-7728, the number on College Board's blog.

When do colleges get your SAT scores?

Later than you do. College Board's blog says it forwards scores to the colleges you choose "within 10-12 days after the scores are out."

The sending scores page says standard reports are "typically sent within 5–10 business days" of your order. Your first 4 reports are free if you order them by 9 days after the test. For a tight deadline, rush reporting costs $31 plus the report fee, per the fees page.

What should you do in the first hour after your score comes out?

Look past the total. Your online report breaks your results into four Reading and Writing domains and four Math domains, per College Board's weekend scores page. Those domains show where you lost points.

  1. See where you stand with the SAT percentiles tool.
  2. If you plan to retake, check the last day to register for the SAT for your next date.
  3. Practice your weakest domain in the October 2026 Reading and Writing bank or the October 2026 Math bank. Each bank splits into sections by domain. The June 2026 Reading and Writing bank is free.
  4. Check your level before you pay for another test. A free account includes one full-length adaptive SAT section.

How we built this page

Release times come from College Board's blog post "When Do SAT Scores Come Out?" (dated November 4, 2024), read on October 13, 2026. Release dates come from College Board's score release dates page. Account, fee and score-sending facts come from College Board's help center, weekend scores, test fees and sending scores pages, all fetched the same day. We copied the three prep-site quotes from each site's own page that day and worked out weekdays and day counts ourselves. Facts about The Test Advantage's question banks and adaptive tests come from our database. Verified 2026-10-13.
