SAT scores from a weekend test come out about two weeks after test day. College Board's 2026-27 release dates are October 16 for the October 3 SAT, November 20 for the November 7 SAT, and December 18 for the December 5 SAT. For spring 2027, College Board lists March 19 for the March 6 SAT, May 14 for May 1, and June 21 for June 5.
Short answer: this page answers "when do SAT scores come out?" for every 2026-27 test date, using College Board's score release page as checked on October 13, 2026. Every fall 2026 release lands on a Friday, 13 days after the Saturday test. Scores post in waves on release day, and some arrive late because of a score hold. Below you will find the full table, the official wording on time of day, how to check your score, why scores get delayed, when colleges get them, and how to plan a retake.

When do SAT scores come out for each 2026-27 test date?
For fall 2026, College Board has published a student release date for every SAT weekend test. For spring 2027, it has now published the student release dates too.
| SAT test date | Registration deadline | Late registration and changes deadline | Scores out for students | Scores out for schools |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aug. 22, 2026 | Aug. 7, 2026 | Aug. 11, 2026 | Sept. 4, 2026 (released) | Sept. 8, 2026 |

Test dates and deadlines come from College Board's SAT dates and deadlines page. College Board says the same dates apply to all students, in the U.S. and abroad, and weekend deadlines "expire at 11:59 p.m. ET." Release dates come from its score release page. The "schools" column is what College Board calls the educator score release, when educators at your school can see the score.
For all eight dates with deadlines, plus a countdown, TTA keeps a 2026-27 SAT test dates page. It does not list release dates, which is why this table exists.
Can a score release date change?
Yes, and it has happened. College Board's release page listed the June 6, 2026 SAT with a release date of June 19, 2026 in February and April 2026. By June 9, 2026, the same page said June 22, 2026. We checked this in saved copies of the page on the Internet Archive. So treat any release date as final only when it is on College Board's page, and check it again the week of your release.

Start 1-day free trial →They are out. When we checked College Board's score release page on October 13, 2026, it listed March 19, May 14 and June 21, 2027 for the three spring tests. Last year the spring dates came later: the page had none in a January 6, 2026 snapshot and all three by February 13, 2026. Dates can still move, as the June 2026 change above shows, so check the page again the week of your release.

How long does it take to get SAT results?
About two weeks. College Board's own rule is: "Most scores from weekend tests are released 2–4 weeks after test day." In practice, every published weekend release from fall 2025 through fall 2026 came 13 days after the test, except one.
| Season | Test date to student release | Days |
|---|---|---|
| Fall 2025 (5 tests) | Aug. 23 to Sept. 5, Sept. 13 to Sept. 26, Oct. 4 to Oct. 17, Nov. 8 to Nov. 21, Dec. 6 to Dec. 19 | 13 each |
| Spring 2026 (3 tests) | Mar. 14 to Mar. 27, May 2 to May 15, June 6 to June 22 | 13, 13, 16 |
| Fall 2026 (5 tests) | Aug. 22 to Sept. 4, Sept. 12 to Sept. 25, Oct. 3 to Oct. 16, Nov. 7 to Nov. 20, Dec. 5 to Dec. 18 | 13 each |
College Board describes the wait in slightly different words on different pages. Its SAT scores page says "2–4 weeks." A parent help page says "2–3 weeks." A 2024 College Board blog post says "approximately 10 business days." All three fit the 13-day gap above. When they disagree, the dated release table wins.
What time do SAT scores come out?
College Board does not publish an exact hour. Its blog post on score release says: "Some scores are released as early as 6 a.m. and all scores are generally available by 8 p.m. on release day." It adds that release "is staggered to allow easy access due to the large number of students accessing their results." That post does not name a time zone.
So a friend can see a score at breakfast while yours shows up that evening. That is normal, and it is not a delay. A delay means your score is not there by the end of release day.
Students ask this more than anything else. "What time do scores come out???" is a typical r/Sat post from September 2026. The subreddit's own September 12, 2026 release thread puts it this way: "No one can tell you exactly when your scores will be released, but the first scores are usually up no later than 7:00 am EDT." That is student experience, not a College Board promise.
For SAT School Day, the same College Board post says scores "are generally available starting around 6 p.m. on the day of release."
How to check your SAT scores
Weekend test takers check scores online in College Board's Student Score Reports site. You will also get an email. College Board says, "Students will receive an email at the address associated with their College Board account when their scores are available."
- Go to studentscores.collegeboard.org. Sign in with the College Board account you used to register. College Board says this works "for students aged 13 or older."
- Find your newest score at the top. Your most recent score shows first. "See Additional Scores" lists your older SAT and PSAT scores.
- Click "See Score Details." This shows how you did against college readiness benchmarks, your percentile ranks, and your skills in four Reading and Writing domains and four Math domains. The score report PDF is on the same site.
Your total is on a 400–1600 scale, with two section scores of 200–800 each, per College Board's score guide.
If the score is not there, College Board's steps for weekend scores say to use the Find Your Scores tool. You can also find a score "using your test details and SAT registration number." Then ask if you have a second account: "You, your parent, or your counselor could have created an account for you." Sign in to the other one. You can also get scores by phone for a $15 fee per call, "available at the same time as online scores."
What about Bluebook? Bluebook is the app you test in. College Board's weekend score steps point to Student Score Reports, not Bluebook. School Day testers do use Bluebook for one score task: picking free score sends (covered below).
Why does it take 2 weeks for SAT scores?
College Board does not give one full explanation. It does publish two deadlines that run inside the wait, and it says why they exist.
- Problems and complaints: you "generally need to communicate them to the SAT Program by 11:59 p.m. ET on the fourth weekday after the test administration."
- Canceling scores: weekend testers must cancel "by 11:59 p.m. ET one week after your test date." School Day testers get five days.
Then the College Board contact page gives the reason: "This is necessary in order to ensure that your concern is investigated before your scores are released." So the first week is reserved for reports, complaints and cancellations. Anything beyond that is not explained on the pages we checked.

Students feel the wait. One r/Sat post asked, "Is 2 weeks really necessary until scores come out?" Another asked why "it's a digital test why would it take so long to give ur score?" (r/Sat, October 2025). Commenters guessed at cheating checks and cancellation time. Only the second guess matches College Board's stated reason.
Why are my SAT scores delayed or showing "Your score is coming"?
Usually because of a score hold. College Board's SAT score holds page says it "holds student scores when a test day irregularity occurs." It names three causes:
- "an Irregularity Report that was submitted by your test coordinator"
- "a technical issue that occurred when the student tested"
- "a test security issue"
A complaint can also slow things down. If you complain about the test center or testing conditions, College Board says, "Your scores could be delayed while your complaint is investigated."
A whole test date can be hit, too. On the March 8, 2025 SAT, a wrong security setting in Bluebook auto-submitted some tests early. College Board said this affected "12.8% (8,855) of international and 0.6% (1,231) of domestic test takers" (College Board newsroom, March 14, 2025).
What you see in your account
| What your account or report shows | What College Board says it means |
|---|---|
| "Your score is coming" | "In most cases, if a score is on hold, the student will see 'Your score is coming'." The score "will automatically update when the hold is lifted." |
| "Score Sends Held" on your PDF report | College Board "was unable to confirm a complete set of responses." You and your school get the score, but it is not sent to colleges until you call Customer Service to release it. |
| Score held for guidance only | The score goes to you and your school but "can be used for educational guidance purposes only." Colleges and scholarships cannot use it. |
Students on r/Sat also see "Your score is coming" in the days before a normal release. One Oct. 2024 post title reads, "'Your Score is Coming' okay like I am too?" So that message alone, before release day, is not proof of a hold.
How long does a score hold last?
College Board does not give a fixed length. It says "cleared scores will be reported immediately or on the next scheduled score release date following the conclusion of investigations." Students who got delay emails in September 2026 posted titles like "My SAT Scores are delayed by 4-6 weeks" and asked, "is there anyway getting it faster than 6 weeks?" (r/Sat). Those numbers are what students reported, not an official time frame.
What to do if your score is late
- Wait until the end of release day. Release runs until about 8 p.m., per College Board.
- Check your email. For weekend tests, College Board says students should "first check the email address associated with their collegeboard.org account," because "we will reach out to students with important information, including information related to their score hold."
- Check for a second account and use Find Your Scores (see above).
- Contact Customer Service. The score holds page lists sat.org/inquiry, 866-756-7346 (domestic) or +1-212-713-7789 (international), "9 a.m.–6 p.m. ET, Monday–Friday."
- Plan as if you will retake. A hold does not stop you from registering for the next date. The retake table below shows which deadline is next.
When do SAT School Day and PSAT scores come out?
School Day scores follow your school's schedule, not the weekend table. You don't register yourself; College Board says schools or districts handle it. The fall 2026 in-school window is October 1–30, 2026 for SAT School Day, PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 8/9. The spring 2027 window is March 1–April 30, 2027 for SAT School Day, PSAT 10 and PSAT 8/9.
For fall 2026, College Board ties the student release date to the day your school submits answers:
| School submits answers | School portal has scores | Scores available to students |
|---|---|---|
| By Oct. 9, 2026 | Oct. 20, 2026 | Oct. 22, 2026 |
| By Oct. 23, 2026 | Nov. 3, 2026 | Nov. 5, 2026 |
| By Oct. 30, 2026 | Nov. 10, 2026 | Nov. 12, 2026 |
Three things to know:
- State testing programs set their own timing. College Board says schools testing through a state program should "check with your state to confirm when scores will be available."
- You get School Day scores through an app or your school. College Board lists two options: the BigFuture School mobile app, or a copy from your school or counselor. If you gave a mobile number on test day, "We'll text you when your scores are ready." Students 13 and older can also use a personal College Board account for more detail.
- PSAT/NMSQT wording differs. One College Board help page says October PSAT/NMSQT scores "should be available in December." The in-school table above shows October and November dates. Ask your counselor which date applies to your school.
See College Board's in-school score steps for the app sign-in details.
When do colleges get your SAT scores?
Only when you send them. College Board says "your scores aren't automatically sent to colleges." How fast they arrive depends on when you ordered.
| How you send | When it goes out | Cost (fees through December 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Free sends picked at registration or within 9 days after the test | "a couple of weeks after test day" | Free, up to 4 colleges |
| Standard order after release | "typically sent within 5–10 business days of your order being placed" | $15 per report |
| Rush order (released scores only) | "within 1–4 business days (not counting holidays and weekends)" | $31 plus the report fee |
Sources: College Board's weekend score-sending page and its test fees page. A fee waiver gives "unlimited free score reports."
The free window closes before you see your score. Free sends end nine days after the test. Scores come out on day 13. One student put it bluntly: "WHY do you have to choose your 4 free score reports BEFORE you even know what the score is?!" (r/Sat). If you are unsure, you can skip the free sends and pay per report after you see the score.
Delivery days. College Board's score delivery schedule says rush scores go out "typically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays," and non-rush scores ordered outside registration go "once a week, typically on Wednesdays." After that, each college takes its own time to process scores.
Early deadlines. Before paying for rush, College Board's rush reporting page suggests asking each college "whether they accept October and November scores" for early decision or early action. Rush reports "can't be changed or canceled."
Score Choice lets you pick which test dates to send, but "Scores from an entire SAT are sent." Some colleges want all your scores. To see how scores are used in admissions, read TTA's guide on how Digital SAT scores affect college admissions in 2026.
Can you verify or cancel your SAT score?
You can pay to have a score checked, and you can cancel a score, but only before you see it.
- Score verification: $55, fee waiver available. College Board says it "is performed only once per test, and the deadline for verification is 5 months after test day." You order it by phone at (866) 630-9305 in the U.S. and Canada (score verification page).
- No question-level review: "Question-and-Answer Service (QAS) and Student Answer Service (SAS) aren't available for the digital SAT." You cannot buy a copy of your questions and answers.
- Canceling: weekend testers must cancel "no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time one week after your test date." After that, "scores can't be reinstated" (canceling weekend scores). The window ends on day 7, before release on day 13.
What to do after your SAT scores come out
First, put the number in context. Then decide on a retake using real deadlines, not guesses.
1. See where your score stands
- Look up the College Board percentile for any total or section score with TTA's SAT percentiles tool.
- Check any score's percentile, ACT equivalent and a plain verdict on What Is a Good SAT Score?, or open a single score page such as Is 1200 a good SAT score?
- See what a real release day looks like in our September 2026 SAT scores report. It covers the Sept. 25, 2026 release, with 309 scores students posted on r/Sat and a median of 1480. It is a self-selected sample, not a national curve.
2. Pick your retake date
This table shows, for each test, the next SAT you can still register for once your scores are out.
| If you tested on | Scores out | Next test you can still register for | Its deadline (late deadline) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aug. 22, 2026 | Sept. 4, 2026 | Oct. 3, 2026 | Sept. 18 (Sept. 22) |
| Sept. 12, 2026 | Sept. 25, 2026 | Nov. 7, 2026 | Oct. 23 (Oct. 27) |
| Oct. 3, 2026 | Oct. 16, 2026 | Nov. 7, 2026 | Oct. 23 (Oct. 27) |
| Nov. 7, 2026 | Nov. 20, 2026 | Dec. 5, 2026 | Nov. 20, release day (Nov. 24) |
| Dec. 5, 2026 | Dec. 18, 2026 | March 6, 2027 | Feb. 19 (Feb. 23) |
| March 6, 2027 | Mar. 19, 2027 | May 1, 2027 is the next date | Apr. 16 (Apr. 20) |
| May 1, 2027 | May 14, 2027 | June 5, 2027 is the next date | May 21 (May 25) |
| June 5, 2027 | June 21, 2027 | Aug. 28, 2027 is the first date on College Board's "anticipated" 2027-28 list | Not yet published |
Two things stand out. August and September testers get scores after the next test's late deadline, so their next realistic date skips one. November testers get scores on the same day as December's regular deadline, so late registration ($38) is their safety net. You can register before you see your score, but canceling that registration by the change deadline costs $34, per the fee table.
Once you pick a date, TTA's free SAT study plan generator turns your test date and weekly hours into a week-by-week plan.
3. Prepare for the retake
- Take a full-length adaptive section. Create a free account and take one full-length adaptive SAT section free, with a real Module 1 to Module 2 route and a scaled score. No card is needed to sign up.
- Work questions by test month. The SAT question bank hub groups 40+ Digital SAT question banks by test month, with separate English and Math banks. The June 2026 Reading and Writing Question Bank is free: try sample questions without an account, or make a free account to work the full bank.
- Use the newest month. If you tested in September 2026, the September 2026 Reading and Writing bank and September 2026 Math bank cover that month. Each page lists its price. Every bank and practice test is also in the practice test catalog.
- Fix one weak skill at a time. Your score report shows your four Reading and Writing domains and four Math domains. TTA's free lesson notes teach one Digital SAT skill at a time, such as Words in Context or quadratic equations. A free account is needed to open them. For mixed English practice, see the paid October 2026 English question bank.
- Estimate before test day. After a practice test, TTA's Digital SAT score calculator estimates a score from correct answers per module. The raw-to-scaled score guide explains how that estimate works.

How we built this page
We fetched College Board's score release page, dates and deadlines page, SAT scores pages, score-sending pages, fee page, score holds page, contact page and score verification page on September 28, 2026, and quoted them word for word. The test dates matched a copy we saved on September 23, 2026. Past release dates and the June 2026 date change come from Internet Archive copies of College Board's release page dated January 6, February 13, April 1 and June 9, 2026. Day counts are our own arithmetic from those dates. Student quotes come from public r/Sat posts, linked where quoted. Where College Board has not published a date, this page says "Not yet published" and does not guess. The Test Advantage is not affiliated with College Board.
October 2026 SAT scores are out. See what 28 r/SAT students and 12 Test Advantage students scored, who went up, and why about a third of October's Reading and Writing passages repeated earlier tests: October 2026 SAT scores: what Reddit and TTA students got.
Frequently Asked Questions
When do SAT scores come out for each 2026-27 test date?
College Board lists these student release dates: Aug. 22, 2026 test, Sept. 4; Sept. 12, Sept. 25; Oct. 3, Oct. 16; Nov. 7, Nov. 20; Dec. 5, Dec. 18, 2026. For spring 2027: Mar. 6 test, Mar. 19; May 1, May 14; June 5, June 21, 2027.
How long does it take to get SAT results?
College Board says most weekend scores are released 2 to 4 weeks after test day. In practice, every fall 2026 release date is a Friday, 13 days after the Saturday test. The June 6, 2026 test was the exception at 16 days.
What time do SAT scores come out?
College Board does not give an exact hour. It says weekend release is staggered: some scores are released as early as 6 a.m. and all scores are generally available by 8 p.m. on release day. SAT School Day scores are generally available starting around 6 p.m.
How long does a score hold last?
College Board does not give a fixed length. It holds scores when a test day irregularity occurs, such as an Irregularity Report, a technical issue or a test security issue. Cleared scores are reported immediately or on the next scheduled score release date after the investigation ends.
When do colleges get your SAT scores?
Only when you send them. Free sends chosen by nine days after the test go out a couple of weeks after test day. Scores ordered later are typically sent within 5 to 10 business days, or 1 to 4 business days with rush reporting.
Can a score release date change?
Yes. College Board's release page listed June 19, 2026 for the June 6, 2026 SAT in February and April 2026, then June 22, 2026 by June 9. Check College Board's score release page again in the week of your release.
When were spring 2027 release dates published?
They are out: College Board listed March 19, May 14 and June 21, 2027 when we checked on October 13, 2026. Last year, spring 2026 dates were missing on January 6, 2026 and listed by February 13, 2026. Check the page again the week of your release, since dates can change.
