Khan Academy SAT prep covers every skill on the Digital SAT at three levels, and it is free and official. It is not a full plan on its own, because Khan Academy no longer hosts full-length practice tests. Pair it with College Board's free Bluebook tests. If you need more hard, timed practice after that, add a question bank.
For the step-by-step flow from a Bluebook test to its Khan Academy walk-through, read where Khan Academy SAT practice tests are.
Whether that is "enough" depends on your score goal and how fast you use up the official material. For more practice sorted by test date, see the SAT question bank hub.
What does Khan Academy SAT prep include?
Khan Academy's Official SAT Prep is a free course made with College Board. College Board says the content "is developed in partnership with College Board" and adds, "Best of all, it's free!" Khan Academy's help center, updated July 10, 2026, says Khan "is still the official partner of College Board."

The June 2026 Reading and Writing bank is free. 230 questions with answers, sorted by domain and skill.
Start 1-day free trial →The Reading and Writing course grew in 2024. Khan's blog says it added "more than 100 new practice questions across 11 different digital SAT Reading and Writing skills and three difficulty levels."
Is Khan Academy enough on its own?
Not on its own. Khan Academy itself sends students to Bluebook for full tests. Its help center says students "will no longer be able to take full-length practice tests for the Digital SAT on Khan Academy" and that those tests are free on College Board's Bluebook app.
College Board's research links full-length practice to higher scores. Its practice resources guide reports that students who completed 1, 2, and 3 or more full-length digital practice tests scored 25, 45 and 61 points higher on average than similar students who took none.
Khan's own Bluebook guide says students who use Bluebook tests together with Khan's SAT tools "improve an average of 39 points." Use Khan and Bluebook together.
Is Khan Academy enough for your score goal?

Start with a free mock, free drills, or preview sample questions before using all 45 question banks.
This table is our planning advice, based on what each tool offers. College Board did not publish it.
| Your situation | Is Khan + Bluebook enough? | What to add |
|---|---|---|
| New to the SAT, or many skills feel new | Yes, to start | Work the Foundations and Medium levels; take a Bluebook test as a baseline |
| Raising one section, with clear weak domains | Often yes | College Board's Student Question Bank, filtered to your weak domain and level |
| Aiming for a top score, where hard questions decide it | Maybe not | More hard, timed questions after the Advanced level and the official tests run out |
| Retaking after scoring below your practice tests | Maybe not | Fresh full-length adaptive tests you have not seen before |
| Test is soon and you have used every Bluebook test | Not by itself | New timed sections, plus review of every mistake |
The limit is volume. Once you have done the Bluebook tests and the Khan review for each, you have seen that material. If you retake a test you already reviewed, you may remember the answers, so the new score means less.
How do you use Khan Academy SAT prep the right way?
College Board and Khan Academy describe the same loop. Here it is in order:
- Take a Bluebook practice test. It is free, timed and adaptive.
- Open the review. In My Practice, click the button to practice on Khan Academy. It opens a course that explains every question on that test.
- Fix weak skills. Start each weak skill at Foundations, then Medium, then Advanced, as College Board suggests.
- Drill by domain. Use the Student Question Bank, or a question bank sorted by test date.
- Test again. Khan's guide describes a common rhythm: a baseline test, a midpoint test and a final test 2 to 3 weeks before the SAT.
For the full list of free tests, see free SAT practice tests in 2026.
What should you add when Khan Academy is not enough?
Add timed, adaptive practice you have not seen. That is the part Khan Academy leaves to Bluebook, and Bluebook has a limited set.
The Test Advantage covers that gap. As of October 13, 2026, it offers:
- 34 adaptive tests. Each one is a full Reading and Writing or Math section. Module 2 gets harder or easier based on Module 1, with real timing: 27 questions per module in 32 minutes for Reading and Writing, 22 per module in 35 minutes for Math.
- 43 Digital SAT question banks. Each covers one test month, from March 2024 to October 2026. The newest is the October 2026 Reading and Writing bank.
- Free to start. A free account includes one adaptive test and the 230-question June 2026 Reading and Writing bank.
- Free skill lessons. SkillDrill teaches one skill at a time with lesson notes and leveled practice.
The Test Advantage is not affiliated with College Board. Add it after Khan and Bluebook. Premium costs $39.99 a month or $250 a year on the pricing page. To try it first, create a free account and take one adaptive section free. You do not need a card.
How does Khan Academy compare with paid SAT prep?
Khan Academy's strength is cost and official content. Paid options add volume, timed practice and extra features. We compare one paid tool in OnePrep vs The Test Advantage. Our older comparison, Khan Academy vs PrepScholar vs The Test Advantage, looks at a course with a score guarantee.
If you are still deciding, build a schedule first. The free SAT study plan generator turns your test date and weekly hours into a week-by-week plan.
