The best free SAT practice tests in 2026 are College Board's official full-length tests in the Bluebook app. They are free, adaptive and scored. College Board's practice page lists eight SAT practice tests, numbered 4 to 11, with paper PDF versions for students who test on paper. Khan Academy reviews each test for free, and The Test Advantage adds a free adaptive test and a free question bank.

How many free official SAT practice tests are there?
College Board's paper practice page lists eight full-length SAT practice tests, numbered 4 through 11. Each one comes with a scoring guide and answer explanations.
The Bluebook updates page says College Board added a new full-length SAT practice test in Spring 2026. The College Board pages we read do not print a total for the app itself. To see your exact list, open Bluebook and go to Practice and Prepare.
Older tests numbered 1 to 3 are not on the current paper page. If a site offers "Practice Test 1" as a new download, check the date on it.
How do you take a free Bluebook practice test?
See which question types are costing you points
Start with a free mock, free drills, or preview sample questions before using all 45 question banks.
You need a College Board account, but you do not need to register for a test first. The 2026-27 SAT Weekend Student Guide lists the steps:
- Download the Bluebook app at bluebook.collegeboard.org.
- Go to Practice and Prepare on the Bluebook home screen and pick Full-Length Practice.
- When you finish, go to My Practice to see your score, each question, the right answers and explanations.
The practice tests use the same adaptive model as the real SAT. Your Module 1 results decide whether Module 2 is harder or easier. College Board also says you can pause a Bluebook practice test and come back later, though it suggests taking at least one in a single sitting. Our Bluebook app guide covers devices and setup.
Are free SAT practice test PDFs worth using?
Only if you will test on paper. College Board says the PDFs are nonadaptive, so they are "recommended only for students who will test with paper-based accommodations on test day."
The paper versions are also longer. In Practice Test 11 on paper, each Reading and Writing module has 33 questions in 39 minutes, and each Math module has 27 questions in 43 minutes. The digital SAT has 27 and 22 questions per module. Our guide to the Digital SAT practice test PDF explains the differences in full.
What does Khan Academy add for free?
Khan Academy no longer hosts full-length digital SAT tests. Its help center says those tests "will be available for free on College Board's Bluebook app."
What Khan adds is review. After a Bluebook test, a link takes you to a Khan Academy course that explains every question on that test. Khan also offers lessons and practice at three levels: Foundations, Medium and Advanced. Read whether Khan Academy is enough for your score goal.
What free SAT practice does The Test Advantage offer?
A free Test Advantage account adds timed practice once the official tests run out. As of October 13, 2026, you get:
- One free adaptive test. It is one full section, Reading and Writing or Math, with Module 1 and Module 2. Reading and Writing has 27 questions per module in 32 minutes. Math has 22 per module in 35 minutes. That matches the real test. You get a score with a likely range.
- One free question bank. The June 2026 Reading and Writing Question Bank has 230 questions with answers.
- Sample questions with no account. The test catalog lets you try 5 sample questions from any test.
- Free skill lessons. Free lesson notes teach one Digital SAT skill at a time (a free account is needed to open them). For more questions, browse all Digital SAT question banks.
- Free tools. The Digital SAT score calculator turns correct answers per module into an estimated score.
Create a free account and take your free adaptive section. You do not need a card. The Test Advantage is not affiliated with College Board, so take its tests after the official ones.
In what order should you use free SAT practice tests?
Take full tests at the start, middle and end of your prep, and drill skills in between. College Board's practice resources guide reports that students who completed 1, 2, and 3 or more full-length digital practice tests scored 25, 45 and 61 points higher on average than similar students who took none.
- Week 1: take a Bluebook test as your baseline.
- Review: go through every missed question with the Khan Academy review course.
- Drill: work your weakest domain in the Student Question Bank or a test-date question bank.
- Check: take the free Test Advantage adaptive section to see if that section moved.
- Repeat: take another Bluebook test at the midpoint and one 2 to 3 weeks before test day.
The 3-test timing comes from Khan Academy's Bluebook guide, which suggests a baseline, a midpoint check and a final run 2 to 3 weeks before the SAT.
What if you run out of free practice tests?
Once you have used the official tests, you need fresh questions you have not seen. The Test Advantage Premium plan includes 34 adaptive tests and 43 Digital SAT question banks covering test dates from March 2024 to October 2026. See the pricing page for current plans.
