Is There a Digital SAT Practice Test PDF?

Quick Answer

Yes. College Board offers free PDFs of eight full-length SAT practice tests, numbered 4 to 11, each with a scoring guide and answer explanations. The PDFs are nonadaptive and longer than the digital test, so College Board recommends them only for students testing on paper with accommodations. Others should practice in Bluebook.

Read it. Then test it.

This article explains the skill. TTA shows whether you can use it under exam timing.

Yes. College Board offers free PDFs of eight full-length SAT practice tests, numbered 4 to 11, each with a scoring guide and answer explanations. But the PDFs are not adaptive and are longer than the digital test. College Board recommends them only for students who will test on paper with an approved accommodation. Everyone else should practice in Bluebook.

Bluebook is one of several free tools. Our free SAT prep guide shows how to combine them in four weeks.

Is there an official Digital SAT practice test PDF?

Yes. College Board's paper practice tests page lists SAT Practice Tests 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. Each test comes as a bundle with three files:

  • The test. A "printable PDF of the full-length, non-adaptive practice test."
  • A scoring guide. An answer key plus a table to turn your raw score into a score range.
  • Answer explanations. College Board says they explain "why the correct answer choice is the best option and why the incorrect answer choices are not the best."

The tests are free to download. The Practice Test 11 file says it is "for students who will be taking the digital SAT in nondigital format." Tests numbered 1 to 3 are not on the current page.

Who should use an SAT practice test PDF?

College Board's answer is short: students who will take the SAT on paper. Its page says, "Since the PDF versions of our practice tests are nonadaptive, they are recommended only for students who will test with paper-based accommodations on test day."

Two more rules from College Board matter here:

  • Practice is not approval. "Using these practice materials does not mean you have been approved to test with a particular accommodation."
  • Apply early. If you need accommodations, College Board asks your school's SSD coordinator to submit a request through SSD Online "at least seven weeks before test day." SSD is College Board's Services for Students with Disabilities.

If you are approved for a paper braille test, College Board's accommodations practice page says to contact SSD for a practice test.

How is the paper version different from the digital SAT?

The paper version has more questions and more time. College Board's 2026-27 SAT Weekend Student Guide explains why: "These paper versions of the tests are longer and require more questions to assess your knowledge and skills." Without adaptive routing, a paper test needs more questions to measure you.

How do you take and score a paper practice test?

College Board's accommodations practice page gives these tips:

  1. Get a printer, pencil, calculator and timer.
  2. Circle your answer choices. For Math questions where you write in an answer, write it in.
  3. Guess when you are unsure. College Board says, "You won't lose any points if you're wrong."
  4. Download the scoring guide and answer explanations, then check your answers.

The scoring guide works in two steps. First, count your correct answers in each section. The Reading and Writing raw score runs from 0 to 66, and Math from 0 to 54. Then look up each raw score in the conversion table. It gives a lower and upper score for each section. Add them to get a total score range. The guide does not give one exact score.

College Board's printable tests are the PDFs above. The Bluebook pages we read do not describe a print option. Two other paper options exist:

  • Teachers can export questions. College Board's Educator Question Bank lets educators "Export your question set to a PDF," with no sign-in needed. Our guide to the SAT question bank explains how it differs from the student version.
  • The Official SAT Study Guide. College Board says taking a printed practice test from the study guide is "another strategy" to build endurance. It is sold in the College Board store and by other booksellers.

Are SAT PDFs from other sites safe to use?

Get official PDFs straight from College Board so you have the current files. Some sites still post tests from the older paper SAT, listed under old formats such as "Old 1600 Format, 2016-2023." Those were built for a different test, so they may not match what you see on test day.

If you will test in Bluebook, digital practice matches the format you will see. Our list of free SAT practice tests for 2026 covers every free option we could verify.

What does The Test Advantage offer instead of a PDF?

The Test Advantage's practice is online, in the digital format you will see on test day. As of October 13, 2026, it offers:

  • Adaptive section tests. 34 of them, each a full Reading and Writing or Math section with Module 1 and Module 2 at real timing. A free account includes one.
  • Question banks by test date. 43 Digital SAT banks, from March 2024 to October 2026, such as the October 2026 Math bank with 106 questions.
  • A free bank. The June 2026 Reading and Writing Question Bank has 230 questions and is free with an account.
  • No-login samples. Try 5 sample questions from any test in the catalog.

The Test Advantage is not affiliated with College Board. If you test with paper accommodations, use the official PDFs first. If you test in Bluebook, create a free account and take one adaptive section free. When you want every bank and all 34 adaptive tests, see Premium plans. Comparing options? Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I download an official SAT practice test PDF?

From College Board's Full-Length SAT and PSAT Paper Practice Tests page. It lists SAT Practice Tests 4 through 11, each with the test PDF, a scoring guide and answer explanations, free to download.

Should I use the PDF or Bluebook to practice?

Use Bluebook unless you will test on paper. College Board says the PDFs are nonadaptive and recommended only for students who will test with paper-based accommodations, and it recommends at least one adaptive practice test in Bluebook before test day.

Why is the paper SAT practice test longer?

College Board says the paper versions are longer and require more questions to assess your skills. In Practice Test 11, each Reading and Writing module has 33 questions in 39 minutes and each Math module has 27 questions in 43 minutes, versus 27 and 22 on the digital test.

How do I score a paper SAT practice test?

Count your correct answers per section using the scoring guide's answer key, then find each raw score in the conversion table. It gives a lower and upper section score; add them for a total score range.

Does using a paper practice test mean I can take the SAT on paper?

No. College Board says using these materials does not mean you are approved for an accommodation. Your school's SSD coordinator should request accommodations through SSD Online at least seven weeks before test day.

Are old SAT practice test PDFs still useful?

Some sites still post tests from the older paper SAT formats. They were built for a different test, so download current PDFs from College Board and use Bluebook if you will test digitally.
