The SAT question bank is College Board's free, official bank of practice questions. Students use the Student Question Bank, and teachers use the Educator Question Bank. Each has thousands of official questions you can filter by section, domain, skill and difficulty. Start there. When you want questions grouped by test date, add a monthly bank.
For Math only, our SAT math question bank guide compares the free and paid options and gives a two-week drill plan.

Question banks: All Digital SAT question banks
Practice needs a free account: one click with Google, and you land straight in your practice tab. You can preview the question banks without an account.
Several prep sites also use the name for their own practice sets. The Test Advantage's Digital SAT question bank hub, for example, groups questions by SAT test date. The Test Advantage is not affiliated with College Board.

An SAT question bank can mean two different things.
- College Board's question bank is the official one. College Board says the Student Question Bank "has thousands of official practice questions created by the same people who developed the SAT Suite of Assessments." You log in to My Practice with a school sign-in ticket or your own College Board student account. Teachers use the Educator Question Bank, which also covers PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10 and PSAT 8/9 questions.
- The Test Advantage's monthly banks group questions by SAT test date, then by skill, with answers and explanations. On October 22, 2026, our hub listed 44 banks with 10,310 English and Math questions. One bank is free, and the rest come with a plan. These are not College Board's official questions, and we are not affiliated with College Board.
Start with College Board's bank, since it is official and free. Add a monthly bank when you run out of official questions or want to see what one test date looked like.

What is the SAT question bank?
It is College Board's searchable library of official SAT Suite practice questions. College Board says the Student Question Bank "has thousands of official practice questions created by the same people who developed the SAT Suite of Assessments."
You can filter it by assessment, by test (Reading and Writing or Math), and by domain, skill and difficulty level. A domain is one of the big content areas on the test, such as Algebra or Craft and Structure. A skill is a smaller question type inside a domain, such as Words in Context.
There are two versions:
- Student Question Bank. Built for students. You open it through College Board's My Practice site.
- Educator Question Bank (EQB). Built for teachers and tutors. College Board's EQB overview says it holds "thousands of SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and PSAT 8/9 test questions."
Besides the official bank, we build prediction banks from repeat patterns in our earlier test-date banks. See how our SAT predictions work and the November 2026 Reading and Writing prediction bank.
Student Question Bank vs Educator Question Bank
Both are free and both come from College Board. The difference is who signs in and what you can do with the questions.

How do you use the College Board question bank well?
Use your practice test results to choose the difficulty. College Board gives a simple rule on its tips page, based on the progress bar for each domain on your score report.
- Take a full-length practice test in Bluebook first. Your score report shows a bar with boxes for each domain.
- If your domain score is in the first 3 boxes, set the difficulty to Easy, then try some Medium questions.
- If it is in the fourth or fifth box, set the difficulty to Medium, then push into Hard.
- If it is in the sixth or seventh box, set the difficulty to Hard, and still do a few Easy and Medium questions to stay sharp.
College Board's practice hub also offers Tailored Practice. It pulls questions from the Student Question Bank based on your results. It lets you build a quiz from "80 questions across each Knowledge and Skill domain."
What is The Test Advantage SAT question bank?
The Test Advantage groups its questions by the month and year of an SAT test date, then by skill. Each bank collects one test date's Reading and Writing or Math questions, with answers and explanations. Some months have separate US and International banks.
On October 13, 2026, its database and live pages showed:
- 43 active Digital SAT question banks: 22 Reading and Writing and 21 Math, covering test dates from March 2024 to October 2026.
- The newest banks: the October 2026 Reading and Writing bank (300 questions) and the October 2026 Math bank (106 questions).
- One free bank: the June 2026 Reading and Writing Question Bank, with 230 questions. You can try sample questions with no login, then make a free account to work the whole bank.
- The hub page: the SAT question bank hub lists 42 of these banks with 9,683 questions in total. The full catalog at /public/tests lists all 43.
The bank pages describe their questions as "reconstructed from" that month's test. They are not College Board's official question bank, and College Board does not endorse them.
Which SAT question bank should you use?
Use College Board's bank first because it is official and free. Add a monthly bank when you run out of official items or want to see what one test date looked like.
| College Board Student QB | College Board Educator QB | The Test Advantage monthly banks | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who writes the questions | College Board | College Board | Reconstructed from specific SAT test dates |
| How it is organized | Domain, skill, difficulty | Domain, skill, difficulty, plus export | Test month, form (US or International), then domain and skill |
| Login | College Board account | None | None for samples; free account for the free bank |
| Cost | Free | Free | 1 bank free; all 43 with Premium |
| Best for | Daily skill practice | Teachers, tutors, printing sets | Extra volume after official material, test-date review |
Pick by your situation:
- You are just starting. Take one Bluebook practice test, then use the Student Question Bank at the difficulty your score report suggests.
- You want paper sets. Ask a teacher to export a set from the Educator Question Bank. Our guide to the Digital SAT practice test PDF explains what else exists on paper.
- You have used up the official items. Move to a monthly bank, starting with the free June 2026 bank.
- You are comparing paid options. See OnePrep vs The Test Advantage and whether Khan Academy is enough.
Why practice tests still come before the bank
Question banks build skills, but full tests show where you stand. College Board's practice resources guide says students who completed 1, 2, and 3 or more full-length digital practice tests scored 25, 45 and 61 points higher on average than similar students who took none.
So the strongest loop is simple. Take a test, find your weakest domain, drill it in a bank, then test again. Our list of free SAT practice tests for 2026 covers every free full-length option.
How do you pick the right Test Advantage bank?
Match the bank to your goal:
- Newest material: start with the most recent test month. Right now that is October 2026.
- Your form: if you test outside the US, look for banks labeled International or "US and International."
- One skill at a time: each bank sorts its questions by domain, skill and difficulty, so you can work one area, such as Transitions.
- Timed practice: TTA also has 34 active adaptive tests. Module 2 gets harder or easier based on Module 1, like the real test. A free account includes one.
Premium includes every bank plus all adaptive tests. On the pricing page it costs $39.99 a month or $250 a year. Before you pay, work the free June 2026 bank to see if test-date practice helps you. Create a free account to open all 230 questions. You do not need a card.
If one skill keeps costing you points, practice it in the question banks before you return to the monthly bank.
