The PSAT 8/9 is the first test in College Board's SAT Suite, given by schools to 8th and 9th graders. It runs 2 hours 14 minutes with a Reading and Writing section (54 questions) and a Math section (44 questions), and it is scored from 240 to 1440. It does not count for National Merit. What it gives you is an early read on your skills, on the same scale as the SAT, years before the SAT matters.
